Ancient Hot Chocolate

It's October, soon it will be November, and the months will continue to change and so will the seasons, from Fall to Winter. It will start to get colder and more people will enjoy in the cold, and end up with a cold. So this is why we will make Ancient Hot Chocolate!
Food Facts: When you buy hot chocolate at a vendor or a store, you may not know how much sugar is contained in it, it's fine if you have it once in a while, but drinking it usually doesn't seem so healthy. It can contain hundreds of calories and day by day you can get less healthier, and that can cause Diabetes, and we want to stay away from that! This is exactly why we will make homemade hot chocolate, it will have less sugar, it will be tastier! Let start with the recipe!
What you will need
  • Four ounces of unsweetened chocolate ( depending on number of people )
  • One teaspoon of chili powder
  • 2 1/2 cup milk
  • One cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Two tablespoon sugar
What You'll Need To Do
  1. First, break all the chocolate into small pieces and put it to the side.
  2. Then in a small pot, heat water on the stove and wait until it boils. Keep chili powder in once it is boiling, whisk until it is properly mixed. Then, set aside to cool.
  3. In another small pot, slowly heat the milk and add vanilla and cinnamon, and stir until it is properly mixed.
  4. Remove the saucepan containing the milk from the stove add the chocolate and sugar and whisk until everything is mixed. Then put the pot back on the stove. Wait for the chocolate to melt and mix gradually.
  5. Then, slowly add the chili water into the milk mixture.
  6. Wait until everything is mixed and remove the pot off the stove.
  7. Serve warm.
And.....ENJOY!!

Ancient hot chocolate is tasty yet healthy, the blend of cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, sugar, and chili powder really give the drink an unique taste, which make your throat feel much better in the cold. You can keep marshmallows or a side of unsweetened chocolate for fun, but I do not recommend you to keep it all the time because it is unhealthy, but the hot chocolate is perfect for cold days. This is why this week's topic was hot chocolate!

Tip of the Week
Whenever you are sick, and you want ice- cream really badly, you should think that you will just be making your cold worse. It is also unhealthy because having something cold in the cold, doesn't sound like a good idea. It can cause you to be sick.
For example, you can have hot chocolate in Fall or Winter and Popsicles in late Spring and Summer. It is a healthy choice to make. So keep eating healthy and be sure to drink this magnificent hot chocolate!

Apple Turnovers

Today we will be focusing on a fancy, apple dessert. Apple turnovers! A fun and healthy way for special occasions. Apple turnovers are small pockets of apple cinnamon pie or other fruit mixes.
Food Facts: Whenever you go to the store and see a box of apple turnovers or any other flavors, just remember that you are buying a box of sugar. Store- bought items may not be so healthy especially when your are getting pastry-like things. This is why I will teach how to make homemade apple turnovers!
         Here's the recipe!

              What you wil need

  • One apple ( or depending on number of people )
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • One tsp of cinnamon
  • Pie crust ( pre-made )
  • One tbsp of flour
The Steps You'll Need to Take

  1. First , peel and slice the apple and slice it into small, thin wedges.
  2. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
  3. Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour into a pan, mix it altogether on top of the stove. Make  sure that all ingredients are mixed properly to begin the next step.
  4. After you cooked the apple mix, make sure that it is soft and cool.
  5. Then, roll out the pie crust. You can cut the crust into either squares or circles.
  6. Then, put a little of the apple mix on the one side of the small dough and roll it up into a little pocket of filling, make sure that there are no leaks in your pocket. Continued doing this until you have no filling nor any crust.
  7. Apply oil to the oven plate and place the apple turnovers. But, before you keep it in the oven, be sure to poke a hole in the top of each pocket.
  8. Finally, place it in the oven, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, make sure that they have are brown. You don't want to eat them raw!
  9. Lastly, enjoy! Serve with your favorites.
There are many ways to serve apple turnovers such as serving it with your favorite ice-cream, or with hot fudge, frosting, other syrups, and many more toppings.

You can use many other fruits instead of apples, you can use blueberries, and other fruits.
This is a tasty way of eating healthy. A fun, homemade treat for the family. Eating homemade food is great, and sometimes you can grow your own food, that is even better, fresh food right from your garden.
So what did you think of this recipe? What other fruit turnovers do you have in mind?

Tip of the Week
Have you ever tried to make fruit desserts, or something sweet that includes fruits. Well, you can make tons of different treats out of fruits. Such as you made the apple turnover. You can make raspberry pie, fruit cake, banana walnut bread, and many more. So eat healthy and try to make these apple turnovers and other fruit desserts! Have fun!

Crepes

Do you ever wonder what you want for breakfast? Instead of making waffles or pancakes we will make crepes! A French pancake, a pancake, in which you can keep anything you want!
Food Facts: In the morning, it is important to eat healthy to start of your great day! Store bought waffles and pancakes can contain a lot of sugar and fat, and you cannot keep vegetables on a waffle. But you can keep all the combinations of food, fruits, and vegetables in crepes. You can eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or snack! Crepes are an everyday meal, you just need to have the right utensils and ingredients. Let's start cooking!

What You Will Need
  • Two eggs ( depending on number of people )
  •  3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • One cup flour
  • Three tablespoons of melted butter ( if you want to make it healthier, put canola oil, instead of butter )
Steps You'll Need To Take
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk together. Then let the batter sit for ten minutes. Make sure that all the flour is mixed in and wait until it is thick if you want it to be fluffy.
  2. Heat oil on a non- stick pan, then add two or three tablespoons of the batter and let it sizzle until it's golden brown. Swirl the batter, while it is liquid, on the pan for it to be even and big.
  3. After 30 seconds or so, flip the crepe over and let it cook for ten more seconds, then remove from pan. Put it on a plate and continue to make crepes until the batter is done.
  4. Then comes the best part... Layer your pancake with anything you want, fruits, vegetables, meat, etc!
You do not have to keep something on your crepe, you can eat them plain or just layer your crepe with only syrup as long as you are getting the wonderful taste of crepes.
Toppings That You Can Keep

  • fruits ( blueberries, apples, strawberries, etc. )
  • vegetables ( carrots, spinach, tomato, etc. )
  • meat ( chicken, turkey, beef)
  • syrups ( maple syrup, chocolate syrup, etc. )
  • whipped cream, ice cream, yogurt...
Anything you want!
Crepes are healthy but the toppings aren't, you would want breakfast to be fun, so instead of keeping a gallon of chocolate syrup, just keep a little and move onto another topping.

Tip of the Week
Eating healthy is important, especially in the morning, you don't want to be grumpy the rest of the day, nor does any body want to be obese. So get a head start and start eating healthy and work out. Instead of eating unhealthy frozen breakfast meals, start eating cereal, healthy cereals. Some cereals can contain a lot of sugar, make sure you pick the right ones. But you don't always have to eat cereal, there are millions of different breakfasts. Such as crepes, oatmeal, and many more. I start my day with milk and Honey Nut Cheerios and with a side of fruit.
What do you do?

English Muffin Pizza

Do you ever buy pizza and it turns out to be either too cheesy or flavorless or too spicy? Cheesy is not healthy nor is it fun to deal with a sticky mess. Flavorless cannot be tasty and most likely it cannot be healthy. Too spicy is not good for your stomach, so  I will teach you how to make healthy easy homemade pizza!
Facts: Store bought dough can contain a lot of yeast, that is hard to unfold, this is why we will use a different bread. Pizza that is bought can also be unhealthy by the lack of tomato sauce. Here's the recipe!

What You'll Need

  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded or a whole block of cheese, it's your choice ( skim milk )
  • English muffins ( cut each one in half )
  • Toppings of your choice ( cut them into small pieces ) ( toppings such as red peppers, green peppers, onions, anything )
  • Tomato sauce
  • Italian seasoning
Steps You'll Need To Take

  1. First mix the Italian seasoning in the sauce, shred your cheese, and cut each English muffin in half.
  2.  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  3. Then begin to layer your muffin, first keep the sauce, then the shredded cheese and your favorite toppings.
  4. Keep tin foil on the oven plate and apply oil before putting your slices on, when that is done, keep it in the oven for 30-40 minutes depending on batch size.
  5. Wait for the vegetables or cheese to darken or for the cheese to bubble in the oven.
  6. Lastly, take the plate out of the oven and wait for it to get cooler.
Then...
ENJOY!!!!!                                                English Muffin Pizza
This new recipe will become your favorite one, instead of once in a while, it will be a weekly dinner for you and your family. It's also healthy so why wait, go to the store and get the ingredients and start  the oven! If you like your pizza spicy I recommend you to put pepper flakes on top. Serve it warm with  a side of a cool drink!
Have fun!!!!

Tip of the Week
Today we made pizza, but wouldn't you want a cool drink. I know a  fun drink mix. First get out all your favorite juices. Pick up your one favorite and pour half the glass. Then pour a little more of another drink, keep on layering your glass until you reach the edge of your glass.  Make sure you don't spill anything, balance is a big thing in cooking. Hope you liked these recipes!
What are your cool combinations of juice or the topping? How did you like the recipe?

Oatmeal Cookies

Are you ever wondering when your or someone else's birthday is coming up, or any other special occasion, "what should I do for his/her birthday?" Instead of making a cake or any other type cake, I will teach you how to make oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! A healthy mix of nutrition and taste, for the entire family to share.

FACTS: When you go into the store and see a box of cookies, don't always assume that they are healthy. They can contain lots of fat calories. This is why I will teach you how to make oatmeal cookies, just the number of cookies you want and the sweetness you like. Most of the store- bought brands usually contain a lot of sugar and are sweeter than they claim. So here's the recipe:

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
What you will need

  • Betty Crocker Cookie Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup canola oil, instead of butter, oil makes the cookies healthier
  • 1 or 2 tbsp of water
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
  2. First combine the cookie mix and egg together
  3. Then, mix the 1 cup of canola oil.
  4. If your dough is too dry, add a little water.
  5. Put your cookies in the preheated oven, set them for 10-12 minutes.
Last, but not least... Serve warm, and enjoy!!!!!
I recommend you to pour a cup of cold milk, or with low fat vanilla ice cream.

Tip of the Week
When cooking, always make sure to know what you are doing. Accidents can happen, you can keep sugar instead of salt, you can overcook  a vegetable or something inside the oven, you can burn your hand, and there are other dangerous things that can happen, so concentrate when you are in the kitchen. I hope you enjoyed this recipe, next time you will see the daily meals of France.
What did you like about this recipe? Too hard or easy peezie? What did you think?
